KAINA The legend of Maniña Yerichana, better known to indigenous peoples as Ka Ina (KAINA), is a priestess, daughter of Amanadona, an indigenous Yanomami princess, and an adventurous and free-spirited Dutch gold seeker. She was abandoned in the middle of the jungle at birth and was fed and raised by a pack of jaguars until, at the age of one, she was found by Pamoni, a mystical Yanomami shaman from the Warao people, who adopted her, raised her, and taught her all the mysteries of the jungle. She learned to read stones, listen to the whispers of the river, communicate with the animals and beasts of the jungle, and master the elements with shamanic incantations. Over the years, she became the most powerful and fearsome native woman in the jungle; she calls herself the owner and mistress of the jungle. She has her own curiara and has spent many years navigating the rivers to reach the hundreds of miners and take their gold. which is very precious to her. Over the years, she has had many men at her service; the Waico Indian Tacupay is her trusted companion, who has been with her since she was a child. Her coffee spell: The shaman Pamoni; on his travels through Gran Colombia, in the beautiful and fruitful region of Tolima, introduced her to Kaina, the most widely grown fruit in that region:

KAINA They read it: COFFEE. At that very moment, Kaina cast a spell on herself, making a pact with those high mountains, a spell that promised to make her eternally young and beautiful. So that this harvest would never end, KAINA sacredly took a hummingbird and ordered it to transport the nectar of the coffee cherry flower day after day throughout the Tolima region, making its reproduction one of the most abundant, divine, and nutritious coffee producers in the world. With a ritual chant, the hummingbirds, among candles and flowers, at the top of the mountain, Maniña Yerichana (KAINA) was bathed in jaguar milk. In return, the mountain only set one condition: that she never bear a child, otherwise, the child would age her. The young Indian woman lives happily until a white man crosses her path. Maniña succumbs to his charms, becoming pregnant and giving birth to a daughter. To escape the curse of the spell, Maniña orders her faithful servant, Tacupay, to kill the girl and bring her heart as proof, but he lacks the courage to do so and gives the girl away without Maniña Yerichana ever finding out. Kaina eventually grows old and dies, but the coffee plantations now provide a suitable habitat for hummingbirds, offering them food with nectar, small insects, and shelter, which, in return, protects the coffee plantations from insects and pests. Because of this, the legacy of the hummingbird's work remains among its bird family from generation to generation. Now, according to legend, all cultures in the area view hummingbirds as messengers of good fortune and also emit their positive vibes for harmonious connections with loved ones. Kaina was a legend about an indigenous woman from the Yanomami ethnic group of the Venezuelan Amazon during the time of Gran Colombia. It's a nickname given to her by the indigenous people, meaning she is the soul of the earth; her real name is Maniña Yerichana. She mastered poisonous plants and animals like the tiger and the lion. She had a wild nature, but she loved the land. She traveled across the entire geographic expanse of Gran Colombia, and while she was in the foothills of the Tolima mountains, she discovered coffee, her primary daily beverage that would keep her forever young and beautiful.
